Grab your boots and camera and come join us as we hop a plane to the historic and beautiful town of Dali, Yunnan Province. The mountain retreat of Dali has become a center for adventurers traveling through scenic Yunnan because of it’s lush scenic beauty and rich history. Bohdi loads up for a 4 day hiking extravaganza! Escape from the dark urban winter of Shanghai for a relaxing weekend retreat.

 

Dali is set beside Erhai Lake nestled in the mountains about 45 minutes flight from Kunming, Yunnan. Famous for the 1200 year old Three Pagoda’s situated in Dali’s ancient and well preserved Old City. The area contains a mix of nearly a dozen different ethnic groups, many of which settled in the area nearly 3,000 years ago and sustain a rich culture of embroidery and fishing. Enjoy experiencing the mountainside villages while hiking along gorgeous waterfalls cascading from the mountains toward Erhai Lake. Our Bohdi guide is very familiar with the area and taking groups to remote and wonderful natural spots in the area. See below for the DAY to DAY play by play!!!!

 

Leave Shanghai in the evening for Kunming, Yunnan where we will spend the night in this mountain city. Time permitting and your willingness we can hit the town for a quick drink and a bite before hitting the pillow!

 

Early to rise as we catch the quick morning flight to Dali. We will check into the quiet, quaint and convenient Cangar Inn located on the outskirts of Ancient Dali. We will have lunch, change our clothes and then head out for a quick hike into the hill surrounding the city (3 to 4 hours) where we can check out the 3 pagodas and the beautiful lake Erhai. That night enjoy a dinner and check out the ancient city at night…spooky!

 

We get an early breakfast, pack our water and food and then meet our guide as we set out on a full day of hiking on up the foothills of Dali! A medium grade hike that will require people of medium fitness or above (7 to 9 hours). Breathtaking views await! That night we will enjoy some dinner a local restaurant run by a couple of Hong Kong hippies before hitting the pillow.

 

Get up a reasonable time for more exploration (2 to 3 hours) in this gem of a town before rounding up for an afternoon in the local Er Yuan hot springs where we can soak our sore legs. There is also the option for a blind massage!

 

We will get some breakfast at a local hang-out and spend our last morning checking out the Ancient city during its morning activities. Visit markets, shops and throw back villages that throw you back in time! We catch our flight out around 1pm and make our way back to Shanghai at jet-speed!
