Flights:

Q: How convenient are the flights to Sanya if I am not coming from Shanghai or if I want to join or leave the trip at a time other than the specified times?

A: No problem! However, in this case you will still have to be responsible for booking your own ticket and transporting your own bike to to and from the airport at Sanya. Shanghai and many other other cities (Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, etc) offer a multiple flights each day to Sanya. The time span the entire day with early flights leaving around 9am or earlier and the latest leaving around the 9pm to 10pm time frame. Shanghai also has flights leaving from both Hongqiao and Pudong. The flights are direct and take about 3 hours.

Q: How far in advanced should I book the ride? Book the ticket?

A: Please book before the cut off date of March 28th, this will give us time to insure all reservations and prices!

Q: How convenient is it to get from the Airport to the city from the airport? What is the cost?

A: Sanya is a small city and the airport (Phoenix International) is located very close to it. For a taxi to Dadonghai the standard is 50rmb and for a taxi to Yalong Bay the standard is 100rmb.  Bohdi will arrange for transport  to and from the airport in Sanya!

Q. Are there any buses into the city from the airport?

A. Yes, there are, but no direct buses to Ya long Bay. There are several into Sanya and to Dadonghai…around 16rmb and leaving frequently.

Taxis:

Q: What is the standard taxi rate?

A: Flags drop at 5rmb (expect spring festival time) if you are traveling in the city or around Dadonghai you can expect no more than 10 to 15 rmb per ride (that is a long way) It should be about 50rmb from the city to Ya long Bay. Also there are tons of motorcycle taxis.

Q: Motorcycle taxi rentals?

A: I am not sure if I recommend this but I stopped a motorcycle taxi guy and got him to agree to rent me the bike for an entire day for 100rmb…that was with me driving.

Food Costs:

Q: What can I expect to pay for food in Sanya?

A: If you go to nicer venues you can spend 60 to 90rmb per person. However,  you can expect the range to be about 30 to 50rmb for a standard dinner and 10 to 25rmb for a standard lunch.

Q: What about breakfast?

A: Breakfast is included with your room…I know that you are happy to hear that!!!

Seasons:

Q: When are the tourist seasons in Sanya? How does this affect the area?

A: The high season in Sanya runs from Oct to May but the only time you see affect on the pricing is around Chinese New Year (feb), May Holiday and October Holiday. At these time rates are up along with flights and everything is packed. You also see a slight increase during the Christmas/New Year Time frame.

Q: What are the weather seasons like? From when to when?

A: October through April is nice weather, warm temperatures and little rain. The best months are late Nov to early March. May through Sept you are entering the raining season with very hot weather.
